Scholarships for female athletes

$30,750 in scholarships awarded since 2001!

Since 2001, WSAW started offering scholarships for graduating female high school athletes who attend our National Girls and Women in Sports Day Awards Banquet in February. For more information about this event, click here.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the high school recipient  MUST be present at the banquet for the drawing.

Eligibility

Who? You must be that year's recipient for your high school of the WSAW Award of Excellence Award. You are selected for this award by your school.

How? The Award of Excellence recipient then MUST ATTEND our Awards Banquet which is held each February in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Event is held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Wyndham Milwaukee Hotel (across from the Mitchell International Airport on S. Howell Avenue). Recipients attend at no cost, however additional dinners for family and other guests are paid at cost.

A scholarship drawing? That's right....you get named as your school's Award of Excellence recipient for that year, attend our awards banquet, stick around for the end of the event and then we DRAW names of the scholarship winners from a hat! It's that easy.

Receipt of your scholarship? After the Awards Banquet, you need to have the college of your choice send us verification that you have been accepted to that school. WSAW will then send the college your scholarship award in your name and/or to your school account.

Restrictions? Due to national athletic eligibility rules, we cannot send money directly to the recipients or their families....it must be sent directly to the college. You must claim your scholarship in the same year it is awarded (i.e. 2009 award in 2009). Failure to claim in the same year as the award will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
